About this part
Ferrite is proof that the newest node is not always the right node. Power management is an analog discipline first: what matters is transistor matching, flicker noise, and a process you have decades of failure-rate data on, not how many you can pack into a square millimetre.
28nm gives us all three, plus a mask set that costs a fraction of a frontier node — which matters, because Ferrite ships in enormous volume across a dozen different customer boards, from industrial sensors to consumer chargers, each wanting a slightly different rail configuration.
94% peak conversion efficiency, in production continuously since our first tapeout on this design six years ago, with two efficiency-focused revisions since.
