About this part

Slate is a reminder of what a foundry relationship is actually for. This ASIC was designed once, for one customer’s implantable device, and it will not be redesigned — the regulatory submission that got the device approved is tied to this exact silicon, on this exact node, and requalifying to anything newer means years back through clinical review.

Our job for the life of this program is simple and unglamorous: keep the 28nm line characterised and available, run the same test program every lot, and never let the part drift. It is the least visible kind of engineering work we do, and for this customer it is the only kind that matters.

In continuous production since approval; committed supply through the device’s full certification lifetime.
